Privacy Policy
AptIQ respects your privacy and understands that the security of the information you provide is important.
Effective 16 July 2026
This policy explains the personal information AptIQ collects and holds, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to you. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to AptIQ, we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What information do we collect?
When you register or maintain an AptIQ account, we may collect information such as your name, email address, account credentials and profile information. We collect information you voluntarily provide when contacting support, submitting a form, participating in a promotion or communicating with us.
When you use AptIQ, we also collect and hold information connected with the service, including:
- practice exam selections, attempts, responses, progress, results and feedback;
- credit balances, purchases, invoices, coupons and transaction records;
- account, authentication and security events; and
- communications and support enquiries.
Online collection
When you access AptIQ, our systems and service providers may automatically receive technical and usage information. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or features used, dates and times of access, diagnostic data and security events.
AptIQ uses cookies and similar browser technologies where needed to keep you signed in, remember essential settings, maintain security and operate the service. Disabling essential cookies may prevent account or practice features from working correctly.
How do we use your information?
We may use personal information to:
- create, authenticate, secure and administer your account;
- provide practice exams and save your responses, progress, results and history;
- process purchases, maintain credits and provide invoices and transaction records;
- deliver account, security, purchase and service communications;
- respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- detect misuse, investigate incidents and protect AptIQ and its users;
- maintain, analyse and improve the reliability and usefulness of the platform; and
- comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms.
Statistical and de-identified information
We may aggregate or de-identify information to understand how AptIQ is used, measure platform performance, improve practice content and prepare internal reports. We take reasonable steps to ensure information used in this way does not identify an individual.
Payments and service providers
We use third-party providers to help operate AptIQ, including providers for hosting, email delivery, security, payment processing and supported automated features. These providers may process personal information only as needed to perform services for us or as otherwise described in their own privacy terms.
Payments may be processed through PayPal. AptIQ records the information needed to verify and administer a purchase, such as the payment status and transaction reference, but does not need to store your complete payment-card details.
When may we disclose information?
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to service providers that help us operate AptIQ; where you direct or consent to the disclosure; where required or authorised by law; or where reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, protect rights and safety, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Overseas processing
Some service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The location can depend on the provider and the infrastructure used to deliver its service. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps required by Australian privacy law before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient.
Marketing and testimonials
We may use your contact details to tell you about AptIQ products, services or offers where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law. You can opt out using the unsubscribe method in the message or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential account, security, purchase or service messages.
We will seek your permission before publishing an identifiable statement, review or testimonial from you in promotional material.
Storage, retention and security
We take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide AptIQ, maintain practice and transaction records, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce agreements. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to lawful retention requirements and backup processes.
Access and correction
You may review and update information available through your AptIQ profile. You may also ask us to provide access to personal information we hold about you or correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Applicable law may permit or require us to refuse access in limited circumstances; if so, we will provide the reason where required.
Privacy enquiries and complaints
If you have a privacy question, want to exercise your access or correction rights, or believe AptIQ has not handled your information appropriately, contact us through the AptIQ support page. Please provide enough detail for us to identify you and understand the request or complaint. We will review the matter and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be entitled to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or another relevant regulator.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to AptIQ, our information-handling practices or applicable requirements. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
